Course & Clubhouse Etiquette
Members and visitors are politely reminded of our simple rules to avoid any possible embarrassment.
Shirley Golf Club aims to operate a contemporary and forward thinking dress policy commensurate with a modern day golf club. It is in all our interests to maintain reasonable standards of casual but smart dress in keeping with golfing traditions. Golfers are therefore made aware that the following are required standards that must be adhered to, both on the golf course and in the clubhouse.
Players must change golf shoes and clothing in the locker room and not in the car park.
Golfing attire is required for all players. Denim jeans, t-shirts, cargo or combat trousers/shorts, tracksuits, rugby & football shirts are not permitted on the course at any time. Shirts must be tucked in, both on and off the course.
Tailored shorts are allowed on the course and in the clubhouse. Flip-flops, and open-toed sandals are not allowed.
Wet or muddy garments must be changed out of before entering the spike bar or lounge areas.
Hats should be removed in the clubhouse.
Golf shoes must be worn on the course and are also acceptable in the spike bar only.
Mobile phones are not permitted to be used for making or receiving calls in any lounge or dining areas. They are permitted to be used for calls elsewhere, including the car park, entrance foyer, changing rooms and meeting room.
Mobile phones can be used anywhere in the clubhouse for other purposes such as text, emails & internet access but must be kept in silent mode.
Mobile phones on the course are for emergency use only.
